There’s a photoset going around with comments that are just making me castlenobut.gif at them. Because the photoset itself is a… Ok, I’ll say nice for lack of a better word, a nice unplanned ironic call back in which somebody used a social situation to provide a fake apology and eventually ending in that situation. It is a clever connection to make.

But a lot of the comments are remembering the old circumstance so out reality, it’s like reading The Other Boleyn Girl all over again. Part of me kind of wants to reply to them with them, but on the other hand for my b-day I should avoid wank.

What photoset are you talking about? Because I am so confused and have no idea what you’re describing. o.O

I think they’re referring to the photoset comparing gifs of Dave’s blackmailed apology (where he talked about kids hanging themselves because people bullied them into feeling so terrible) with gifs of his eventually-suicidal reaction to bullying.

I have to say, I fall on the “clever” side of the reaction spectrum to this. Dave’s speech in “Born This Way” was clearly a fake apology, where he sort of glossed over the reasons for bullying because, at that moment, it didn’t matter to him - only to show us how, a year later, he came to personally experience that exact type of thing.

I’m guessing the irony Shaolina mentions comes from comparing the situation of Dave callously mentioning legitimately awful topics in an off hand and insincere manner in order to get sympathy and further his and Santana’s popularity, to the situation of the writers creating a legitimately awful suicide scenario for Dave and handling it (in your opinion) poorly and insincerely in order to win viewer popularity.
