People buying into this show’s dismissive attitude toward the very real and difficult things Quinn has been through.
Yeah, see, inevitably the show AND fandom’s shitty treatment of Quinn will transform you into a stan because you just get so protective.
SHE CHOSE TO BE A WOMAN IN A PATRIARCHAL SOCIETY, I MEAN JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, IT’S NOT LIKE SHE CRIED MAN TEARS LIKE DAVE DID OKAY?
I was pretty conflicted with this scene, at first. Um, how can a MAN (Kurt) ever hope to understand the anguish of a teen pregnancy and being a social outcast? On the other hand, Quinn was also being very dismissive of suicides (“I went through hell and I didn’t do that, Dave is obviously weak and selfish and inferior, etc. etc.”). It was an interesting scene because BOTH CHARACTERS were claiming expertise over things they knew NOTHING about. Kurt don’t know nothing ‘bout makin’ no babies, and Quinn does NOT have the right to condemn suicidal teens as selfish. She did not know Dave’s life and bitching about it being selfish is the most useless, hateful thing to contribute.
In the end, however, I interpreted the scene as two hurting teenagers trying to understand something that is beyond their experience (suicide attempts, and the motivations behind them) and fighting because of that. Kurt’s all “MY PAIN MEANS MORE BECAUSE I’M GAY” and Quinn is all “MY PAIN MEANS MORE BECAUSE I WAS OUTCAST FROM MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY”.
These are the writers that dismissed Quinn’s issues with Sam Evans telling her she just had “Rich White Girl” problems....
